It's always been this way.

Probably unchanged, just not covered up as much as it used to be.

Fire only after and if they are convicted. Depending on allegation whether or not they are suspended and with or without pay.

Have them take a leave of absence for counseling..Treat them as you would a family member..Ha! Fat chance though.
It depends how agregious the incident is. Suspend with pay during internal assessment, force into counseling, go from there

You know what the lawyer and the HR person will say. If your corporate bosses will allow it -- and that's usually where the pressure comes from -- be loyal to your employee. If their problem stops them from doing their job, then deal with it on a job performance level.
